The core team
Dr. Ferdaoussi works day to day with a team of 4 permanent students in the lab.
Interdisciplinary Sciences — interested in the intersection of biology, immunology, and public health, with a particular focus on the role of oxidative stress and inflammation in the development of chronic diseases, primarily diabetes.
Health Sciences — studies the role of glucocorticoid-induced ferroptosis in mitochondrial dysfunction of pancreatic beta cells, and its consequences for glucose homeostasis regulation.
Health — studies cardiac dysfunction induced by chronic glucocorticoid use, through the mechanism of ferroptosis.
Interdisciplinary Sciences — studies the role of the antioxidant protein GPx4 in regulating the molecular processes that control insulin secretion, and how their disruption is involved in the development of diabetes.
The Ferdaousi Lab welcomes graduate students and international interns every year, notably through the BCDI2030 and Study in Canada Scholarship programs.
